Jasmin Savoy Brown discusses the mystery of the Man With No Eyes in Yellowjackets. The series follows a high school girls soccer team that survives a plane crash and must go to extreme measures to stay alive while stranded in the woods. The series jumps between two timelines: the girls’ time in the woods and over twenty years later as the survivors struggle with secrets about the horrors they saw and committed to survive. Season 2 of Yellowjackets digs further into the devolution of the women, both as teenagers as they try to survive the winter and as adults as their lives become more complicated.

In an interview with Screen Rant to promote the Scream VI digital and home release, Brown also touched on her hit show Yellowjackets. She discussed the major toll it is taking on Taissa and revealed that the details about the Man With No Eyes were still a mystery, even to her. Check out Brown’s full quote and interview below:

Jasmin Savoy Brown: I don’t know what is up with that. I still don’t know who that is or where he came from. I know he’s connected to her grandma, but beyond that, I don’t know what the deal is. I think that is taking a huge toll on her, for sure.

How Does The Man With No Eyes Play Into The Larger Yellowjackets Mystery?

Yellowjackets survivors together at Lottie's cult

Season 2 of Yellowjackets has revealed answers to some of the mysteries set up in season 1, including the start of cannibalism and how the ritual began. However, there are still a number of mysteries remaining, including the symbol, Taissa’s sleepwalking, and the Man With No Eyes. Taissa’s sleepwalking was a bigger problem at the start of the season, with Van searching for ways to keep her safe, including tying their arms together before going to sleep and following her as she sleepwalks. However, it seems to have stopped since Taissa, Van, and most of the team began attending Lottie’s morning meditation sessions.

While the sleepwalking has stopped for young Taissa, it has become more dangerous for the adult Taissa, who sacrificed her family’s dog, terrified her son, and was responsible for her wife’s hospitalization when they were involved in a car accident. Taissa reconnected with adult Van, hoping to find help, which led the pair to Lottie’s retreat. The secret of the Man With No Eyes seems to be tied to Taissa outside the woods, beginning with her grandmother’s death, but it has clear connections to the woods. Sleepwalking teenage Taissa sought out trees with the mysterious symbol, and adult sleepwalking Taissa drew it on her wife’s hand and near the canine sacrifice.

The Man With No Eyes seems connected to both the woods and Taissa’s alternate self which awakens when she sleepwalks. Taissa’s grandmother is the most intriguing connection because it has nothing to do with the woods, and she panicked while dying, saying he wanted to take her eyes. Taissa saw the man as well, which could be the origin of her alternate personality. Perhaps this is how the Man With No Eyes takes someone’s eyes by becoming a passenger of sorts within them. How he ties into Taissa’s sleepwalking, the symbol, and the powers in the woods remains a mystery, but hopefully, one that will be answered in Yellowjackets season 3.

The Yellowjackets season 2 finale premieres on Showtime on Sunday, May 28.
