The latest installment in Scream‘s hit meta horror franchise, Scream VI releases in theaters on March 10, but when will it be available for streaming? The Scream franchise has continued to be one of the most popular horror properties since debuting in 1996, but 2023’s Scream VI is introducing some unprecedented changes to the story. Not only is Neve Campbell not returning as iconic final girl Sidney Prescott, but Scream VI’s setting also takes Scream 5’s Woodsboro survivors to the sprawling, over-populated location of New York City, which is a massive expansion on Ghostface’s typical hunting grounds.
With a fresh take on the Ghostface killings and a stacked cast, Scream VI is expected to be a huge box office success, potentially with the biggest opening of the franchise. Scream (2022) went on to earn nearly $140 million at the worldwide box office, which Scream VI is predicted to outdo. As such, Paramount is apt to maintain a significant theatrical exclusivity for the 2023 Scream film in order to increase its box office success, which could impact its streaming release date. However, the studio has also been largely consistent with its shorter theatrical-to-streaming releases for horror films, suggesting Scream VI could hit Paramount+ sooner than expected.
When Scream 6 Could Be Released On Paramount Plus
Paramount has yet to announce an official streaming release date for Scream VI. However, much like Scream (2022)’s 53-day exclusive theatrical window, the film is expected to hit Paramount Plus’s movie library approximately 46 days after its March 10 theatrical premiere. As such, Scream VI could begin streaming on Paramount+ as early as April 25. This date would follow the same 46-day streaming release strategy of Paramount’s 2022 films Smile and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
While Scream VI could start streaming on Paramount+ in late April, its potential to be a box office hit suggests it may be given a later streaming release date. The December 2022 film Babylon didn’t hit Paramount+ until 60 days after its theatrical release, with May 2022’s massive box office success Top Gun: Maverick having a seven-month delay in its streaming release date. Paramount’s successful film 80 for Brady, which premiered in theaters on February 3, has also yet to stream on Paramount+, which means Scream VI’s streaming release date could similarly be pushed back until late spring or summer 2023.
Where To Stream The Rest Of The Scream Franchise
The first five movies in the Scream franchise are all available to stream on Paramount+. Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 3 are available to watch for free with ads on Pluto TV, with Scream 4 being featured on Tubi’s free library to stream with ad-supported viewing. Scream (2022) can be streamed exclusively through Paramount+, so there are no other free online streaming options for the most recent installment. By the time Scream VI’s streaming release date arrives, the entire Scream movie series will be available to watch on Paramount+.
