When Does Blue Beetle Come To Streaming?

Blue Beetle is the latest movie from the DC Extended Universe, and here’s when it will be available to stream and where. Although the world of DC Comics is preparing for the launch of the DC Universe, there are still a couple of projects from the DCEU waiting to be released, the latest one being Blue Beetle. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, Blue Beetle stars Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes, who in the comics, is the third incarnation of Blue Beetle, and one who eventually became a member of the Teen Titans.

Blue Beetle, then, follows Jaime Reyes, who after graduating from college, goes back to his hometown Palmera City. There, Jaime is chosen to become a symbiotic host to the Scarab, an ancient alien biotechnological relic that grants him a powerful exoskeleton armor capable of incredible but unpredictable powers. Thanks to this, Jaime becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle, which completely changes his life and destiny. Blue Beetle is coming out in theaters on August 18, and is expected to be made available to stream sometime after, but when and where will Blue Beetle be ready to stream?

Blue Beetle Will Likely Release On Streaming In November 2023

At the time of writing, Blue Beetle doesn’t have an official streaming release date, but looking at Warner Bros.’ streaming patterns, a potential release date can be predicted. Typically, in Warner Bros.’ releases, there’s a 60-90 days window between theatrical and streaming release, and the date will depend on how the movie performs at the box office. With this in mind, and supposing Blue Beetle will be a box office hit, Jaime Reyes’ story could be made available to stream on HBO Max in mid-November 2023. The Flash is having a similar number of days between its theatrical and streaming release, as it’s expected to arrive at HBO Max sometime in the fall, most likely in September, even though it was a massive box-office bomb.

Blue Beetle was originally planned for a direct-to-streaming release on HBO Max, but in December 2021, it was announced it would receive a theatrical release in the summer of 2023. What changed Warner Bros.’ mind about making Blue Beetle an HBO Max exclusive was Soto’s creative vision for it, which also helped hype the project. In order to give the audience a much more immersive experience, Blue Beetle will also be released on IMAX.

Blue Beetle Will Likely Release On Digital In September 2023

The only confirmed date for Blue Beetle so far is its theatrical release, and not even its digital release has gotten an official date yet – however, just like its streaming release, it can be predicted by looking at Warner. Bros and DC’s latest projects. Long gone are the days when there was a 90-day window between theatrical and digital and home releases, and the wait is now a lot shorter. Once more taking The Flash as an example, it only took 32 days for Warner to release Barry Allen’s chaotic multiversal adventure on digital, but it’s taking it 74 days to be released on Blu-ray and DVD.

Supposing the same pattern will be applied to Blue Beetle, its digital release could happen in mid-September 2023, with its home release arriving in late October. However, this could vary if Blue Beetle is a box office hit, which definitely wasn’t the case with The Flash, as the longer it stays in theaters, the later a digital download would come. In the end, Blue Beetle’s digital and streaming releases will depend on how well it performs at the box office and how well it does with critics and viewers, but it will most likely be available to stream before 2023 is over.
