Aside from Grand Admiral Thrawn, the dual Force-users Baylan and Shin, and the Nightsister Elsbeth, Marrok was confirmed as a secondary antagonist of the show. From theories surrounding the canonization of Vader’s secret apprentice Starkiller to Marrok being Ezra Bridger under the helmet, endless speculation has surrounded the mystery of the villainous Inquisitor. After weeks of theorizing, Ahsoka episode 4 reveals the truth about Marrok and his subsequent fate.
Marrok Was Killed In His Duel With Ahsoka
One of the elements confirmed to appear in Ahsoka episode 4 based on the ending of the prior episode and the show’s marketing was a duel between Ahsoka and Marrok. This duel coincided with a rematch between Shin Hati and Sabine Wren, before Ahsoka went on to face Baylan Skoll. Given her subsequent clash with Baylan, Ahsoka episode 4 saw the death of Marrok when facing Ahsoka. After a brief skirmish, Ahsoka decided to utilize her patience and allow Marrok to attack her. Upon doing so, Ahsoka sliced Marrok’s midriff and revealed the truth about his identity.
Marrok’s Death Revealed His True Origin – A Nighbrother
As such, Marrok’s identity is tied directly to Morgan Elsbeth. With confirmation that the latter is a Nightsister of Dathomir, Marrok’s true origin as a Nightbrother was revealed in Ahsoka episode 4. Ahsoka’s cut with her lightsaber saw green smoke seep through the wound before Marrok disappeared completely amid the green-tinted fumes. This confirms his creation by Elsbeth as a Nightbrother, simply created to do his master’s bidding.
