The White Lotus creator is open to the idea of an “all-star season.” HBO’s acclaimed anthology series follows the guests and employees of the titular resort chain where someone inevitably turns up dead. In its first two seasons, the only returning characters have been Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid and her husband Greg (played by Jon Gries), with the upcoming White Lotus season 3 bringing back Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), the spa manager from season 1.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter ahead of The White Lotus season 3, creator Mike White raised the possibility of doing an “all-star season.” White, who has won multiple Emmy Awards for writing and directing all 13 episodes so far, says it would be fun to bring back a bunch of fan-favorite characters in one future season. Read what White said below:
It would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but I think it’s more fun to have little threads through the show. If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season.
Which Characters Should Return For White Lotus All-Stars?
If “The White Lotus: All-Stars“ ever actually comes to fruition, the one character who is most deserving of returning is the show’s biggest fan-favorite, the quirky Tanya McQuoid, played by the Emmy-winning Jennifer Coolidge. However, it would be tough to make that work in terms of the show’s continuity, considering Tanya died in a nautical accident during the season 2 finale. White says he is open to bringing back Tanya’s deceitful husband, Greg, in a future season, likely to explore the fallout from him scheming to murder his wife and steal her money.
The season 1 couple Shane and Rachel could also be candidates to return for an all-star season, since they were portrayed perfectly by Jake Lacy and Alexandra Daddario, and their decision to stay together was quite controversial. It would also be difficult to imagine an all-star season without the Mossbacher family from season 1. Many unanswered questions remain from season 2 about the intermingling of the couples Cameron (Theo James) and Daphne (Meghann Fahy), and Ethan (Will Sharpe) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza), which would be interesting to follow up on in an all-star season of The White Lotus.
