Fresh off his big Last of Us episode, Nick Offerman and his wife Megan Mullally are joining The Umbrella Academy season 4. Based on the comic book series of the same, The Umbrella Academy centers on a dysfunctional family of adopted superhero siblings who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and save the world from an impending apocalypse. After three seasons of success, Netflix’s hit series is heading into its fourth and final season.
Now, shortly after filming began, The Umbrella Academy season 4 cast has potentially made its first major addition. Talking to ET Online at the Party Down season 3 premiere, Mullally revealed that she and her husband Offerman are in serious talks to join the final season of Netflix’s superhero show. Read what she said below:
I mean, the deal’s not quite closed but let’s just pretend it is. [We start filming] in a couple of weeks.
Everything We Know About The Umbrella Academy Season 4
If their deal is closed, Offerman and Mullally will be the first new cast members to join The Umbrella Academy season 4. The two actors, who have been married for 20 years, will play “a mild-mannered married couple named Jean and Gene who are college professors,” Mullally revealed. Offerman is coming off his acclaimed performance as the survivalist Bill in The Last of Us episode 3, a role that his wife actually convinced him to take. With about a dozen shared credits, the two are no strangers to working with one another, most famously in Parks and Recreation.
The Umbrella Academy season 4 is expected to bring back most of its main cast, including Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, David Castañeda, and Ritu Arya. Coming off season 3’s cliffhanger ending, season 4 will likely draw from the comics’ unpublished fourth storyline, The Sparrow Academy, and find the siblings struggling to regain their superpowers, meeting more doppelgängers, and living in a world ruled by Sir Reginald Hargreeves. Since this is the last season, the final batch of episodes will also need to provide a satisfying ending for the show.
