The material known as Plutonium can craft weapon mods in Starfield, but this item only exists on a select few planets that best hide the material.

The rare resource Plutonium is difficult to farm in Starfield, only showing up on a select few worlds to be harvested by your character’s best tools as you explore different systems. Finding a suitable planet with this material allows you to build an Outpost that can collect Plutonium even if you aren’t there. Although you could also buy this resource at a couple of shops, you have to be at a higher level to purchase Plutonium.

The Mining League in Neon on Volii Alpha has Plutonium you can purchase right at level 1. Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis and Midtown Minerals in Akila City also have this resource, but both require your character to be level 3-5 or 20, respectfully. Those looking to maximize the amount of places they can get Plutonium should search for ways to level up fast in Starfield during their journey.

Every Planet for Farming Plutonium in Starfield

Starfield Traveling to Distant Plant to Farm Every Resource such as Plutonium

A total of 25 planets and moons host Plutonium on their surface, which can be harvested by your character personally or through a Resource Extractor built into an Outpost in Starfield. Specific gun attachments in Starfield need Plutonium as one ingredient before you can craft them. These items change your weapon’s properties, often improving things like reload speed, ammo capacity, or other factors.

As of this time of writing, it is still being determined precisely which weapon mods are built using Plutonium as a main resource. Those who find a surplus of this resource in the mentioned systems can always sell the Plutonium they find to vendors for a quick and easy source of Credits in Starfield. Mass production of materials for trade is one of the best ways to make fast money during your space-faring adventures. The best planets to farm Plutonium in Starfield may be few and far between, but discovering the right systems for this resource will be worthwhile.
