The main cast of Sex Education comes together in an adorable reunion photo amid news that a few of them will exit the Netflix show after season 4.

Ahead of a number of exits after season 4, the main cast of Sex Education reunites in an adorable new image. Netflix’s British series is gearing up to return with new episodes continuing Otis, Maeve, and Eric’s stories following the game-changing season 3 finale. Before Sex Education season 4 even premieres, however, another massive shake-up is looming with reported actor exits happening after the upcoming year.

Despite that, the main cast of Sex Education doesn’t seem to be bothered by this as Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Aimee Lou Woods, and Ncuti Gatwa pose together for an adorable image at Netflix’s annual BAFTA Awards after-party. Check out the images below shared by Gatwa on his official Instagram account:

All four actors are confirmed to return for Sex Education season 4 on Netflix. However, beyond that, both Gatwa and Mackey are expected to exit the series as they venture out with their respective careers.

Why It’s Best To End Sex Education With Season 4

Since premiering in 2019, Sex Education has become one of the best coming-of-age shows on the streaming platform. Along with its nuanced storytelling, its ensemble cast has also been often praised for their performance. Given that, it makes sense that many of them have expanded their horizons when it comes to their acting careers, trying other projects outside of Sex Education.

Both Mackey and Butterfield have starred in other high-profile projects in the last few years. Gatwa’s career has skyrocketed as he has been tapped to play the next incarnation of Doctor Who. It’s uncertain if Butterfield is contemplating leaving the show after its upcoming outing as well. Considering that Sex Education will likely lose both Mackey and Gatwa, it may be best for the streaming giant to just wrap up the show altogether and give the characters the satisfying send-off that they deserve.

Before Sex Education potentially ends with season 4, Netflix should make sure that there’s a pay-off for Otis and Maeve’s storyline. The pair’s romance has taken a lot of frustrating turns and it would be a massive disappointment if they don’t find a way to bring them finally together. That shouldn’t be that big of a problem since Sex Education season 4’s smaller cast would allow the series to devote more time to the couple.
