Rosario Dawson, who plays the live-action Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian and other Star Wars shows, hints at the release date of the Ahsoka series.

Rosario Dawson, the actress who plays the live-action Ahsoka Tano, has hinted at the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show’s release date. Lucasfilm has transformed The Mandalorian into the launchpad for an entire era of Star Wars TV shows. One of the most eagerly-anticipated is the Ahsoka series, which will star Rosario Dawson as the live-action version of Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan. This promises to be an important next step in Lucasfilm’s ongoing plan, and it’s generally believed a live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn will serve as the principal antagonist. Little is known about the release; Ahsoka has previously been confirmed to come out in 2023, but the studio has been reluctant to give any specific information.

Speaking on NBC News’ Today show, Dawson has finally addressed the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show’s potential release. She doesn’t go into any detail, but she does confirm it will probably come out in the fall.

This fits with Lucasfilm’s typical production patterns, and means the show will have plenty of time in post-production.

Ahsoka’s Disney+ TV Show Can Succeed Where The Book Of Boba Fett Failed

Lucasfilm is clearly pushing ahead with the so-called “Mandoverse,” and all signs currently suggest the studio has learned from the mistakes made with The Book of Boba Fett. This was generally seen as something of a disappointment to viewers, lacking a compelling narrative and eventually sidelining its ostensible protagonists in favor of the Mandalorian and Grogu. It’s one thing for different TV shows to intersect; it’s another for stories to move from one show to another, and even take over. Fortunately, the Disney+ Ahsoka series seems to have a stronger hook, and viewers are particularly excited about seeing live-action interpretations of other Star Wars Rebels heroes.

Ahsoka has evolved into one of the most mysterious characters in Star Wars lore. Although she trained as a Jedi, she left the Order and has become something of a lone wolf. She initially fought against the Empire, but seemed to bow out shortly before the Battle of Yavin, for unknown reasons. Her re-emergence five years after Return of the Jedi seems odd – as does the fact she has been seen in very different, glowing white garb in the Star Wars Rebels epilogue. Showrunner Dave Filoni has hinted events are being told out of sequence, so that may well be in Ahsoka’s future.

It’s reasonable to assume Lucasfilm will reveal more at Star Wars Celebration 2023. That would be the perfect place for a trailer drop, or at least an official release date announcement. Hopefully it won’t be long before viewers learn more about the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show.
