Chris Evans’ Pre-MCU Career is Full of Unique Titles

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Although Captain America is the role that launched Evans to superstardom, he was a rising star for quite some time prior to 2011. His pre-MCU roles even include another Marvel superhero. He played Johnny Storm, also known as The Human Torch, in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

However, despite his superhero pedigree, Evans proved his range in a variety of different genres in that time period as well. This includes his early work in teen projects, such as the 2001 parody Not Another Teen Movie, which mashed up elements of She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, and many other popular teen titles. He would also appear in the teen heist movie The Perfect Score opposite his future MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson.

After his teen movie period, he went on to star in quite a few thrillers and action movies as well, including Street Kings, Cellular, Sunshine, and Push. However, he also showed off his comedic skills in movies such as The Nanny Diaries (also opposite Johansson) and What’s Your Number? (which premiered the same year as Captain America). Although he is now most closely linked with the MCU in the public eye, Evans was building his star potential long before 2011 rolled around.
