Perfect Match star Dom Gabriel reacts to his inaccurate portrayal as a British Too Hot To Handle contestant in a Saturday Night Live sketch.
Netflix’s Perfect Match star Dom Gabriel is reacting to his inaccurate portrayal in a Saturday Night Live parody of Too Hot To Handle, despite not appearing on that show. Dom, who previously competed on The Mole, did star alongside THTH alums on Perfect Match, which just wrapped its first season. The crossover dating series also features alums from The Circle, Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum, and more.
Despite Dom not being on Too Hot To Handle, one character in the sketch had a hairstyle almost identical to his, and was even named Dom. But this character also spoke with a British accent, and was paired up with a girl named Izzy. That character appeared to be modeled after Perfect Match co-star Izzy Fairthorne, who actually was on Too Hot To Handle. Dom tagged Izzy in his Instagram story, writing, “we on SNL we made it lmfao.”
SNL Star Confirms Dom Inspired Too Hot To Handle Sketch
Dom wondered who the others characters were based off of. When a follower suggested Joey Sasso, Shayne Jansen, and Francesca Farago, Perfect Match breakout star Dom replied, “2/5 were on THTH,” with a laughing emoji. “I’m just happy they ain’t have me crying in that parody.” SNL cast member Chloe Fineman DMed Dom to verify that his hairstyle was the inspiration for the wig. Confirming there were no hard feelings, Dom responded, “I love it…such a huge SNL fan my mom is freaking out.” Chloe revealed that the cast binged the entire series in the SNL office.
While this social media interaction with Chloe ultimately turned into a mutual exchange of admiration, there’s been some drama involving Dom and his social media activity in the show’s aftermath. After recovering from his breakup with Francesca, Dom won the series alongside THTH alum Georgia Hassarati. He even asked the Australian native to be his girlfriend. However, Dom and Georgia’s romance didn’t last, and she is now in a relationship with Harry Jowsey. The timeline has been questioned, including by Francesca and Dom, but Georgia has defended herself and slammed her former co-stars for alleged lies.
A character so clearly modeled after Dom, in a parody of a show he wasn’t even on, speaks volumes to his role as the Perfect Match breakout. The other star who reached similar heights was Dom’s close pal Ines Tazi. But despite mostly being beloved, it’s been questioned if Ines and Dom are actually more than friends. Especially by Georgia, who also cried over it on the show. Viewers will surely be glued to the entire Perfect Match cast’s social media for glances at their romantic futures. It also remains to be seen whether Netflix will include a reunion episode.
