Jackson leads Secret Invasion‘s star-studded cast, which adds massive names to the MCU, such as actresses Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke, and brings back Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill, Don Cheadle’s War Machine, and more. The series will present a thrilling story with Fury at the center of an invasion by the shape-shifting Skrulls, not knowing who to trust.
On Instagram, artists @venomhology and @arifinity_ partnered up to share the claustrophobic sentiment of the series through a Secret Invasion fan poster that turns established MCU characters like Fury into Skrulls, asking, “Who do you trust?”
Secret Invasion‘s Skrull conspiracy story promises to be in the same vein as one of the MCU’s most beloved offerings, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which also involved Nick Fury in a big way. However, this time Jackson’s character is the main star.
What MCU Characters Might Be Skrulls In Secret Invasion?
Fury will be having a hard time figuring out who to trust in the Disney+ series, with Secret Invasion‘s story set to be full of twists and turns throughout its run. The biggest selling point of the upcoming series is the uncertainty surrounding every character’s decisions, as the viewer, and most other characters, will have no way of knowing their true intentions. In this paranoia-imbued series, Fury will be trying to save the world from a Skrull invasion, not knowing who to trust.
Jackson’s former SHIELD director will not have the help of his superhero pals, as Secret Invasion does not feature the Avengers. In that aspect, the Disney+ series differs greatly from the original Marvel Comics event that names the show. In the Secret Invasion comics, the main selling point of the story was the fact that any Marvel hero could be revealed to be a Skrull. The aliens had been replacing many superheroes over the years, leading to big reveals during the event. With only Rhodey returning of the MCU’s costumed heroes, Secret Invasion could throw a major curveball and reveal that he was replaced by a Skrull at some point.
Smulders’ Maria Hill is also a prime candidate to be revealed to be a Skrull, with her being Fury’s most trusted ally making for a possible major twist for the series and its lead character. Another MCU character that has good chances of being revealed to be a Skrull is Dermot Mulroney’s Ritson, who debuts as the President of the United States. It is known that Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross will be holding Ritson’s job in Captain America: New World Order, so Secret Invasion revealing the President of the United States to be a Skrull would certainly vacate the position.
