Emma Myers is starring in Netflix’s upoming comedy movie Family Switch, with her casting actually containing a surprising connection to Jenna Ortega.

Summary

  • Netflix’s comedy movie Family Switch establishes a link between Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers based on their Netflix family movies co-starring Jennifer Garner.
  • Emma Myers stars as the teenage daughter of Jennifer Garner in Family Switch, while Jenna Ortega played Garner’s daughter in Netflix’s Yes Day.
  • Family Switch, directed by McG, also includes meta references to Jennifer Garner’s 2004 film 13 Going on 30, adding another connection to the actress’s past movies.

The casting for Netflix’s upcoming comedy movie Family Switch surprisingly establishes another connection between Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers. Netflix is well known for utilizing many of the same hit actors across its movies and TV shows, with Ortega and Myers being no exception. Though Myers’ breakout acting role was in Netflix’s Wednesday season 1 as werewolf Enid Sinclair, Ortega had been cast in several hit Netflix projects prior to scoring her leading Addams Family spinoff role. As the actors continue to score more roles with Netflix, Wednesday‘s stars are creating overlap with casting similarities.

Emma Myers is starring in Netflix’s upcoming movie Family Switch, a Freaky Friday-like comedy about a family who mysteriously wakes up to a full body swap – while the mother wakes up in the body of her teenage daughter (and vice versa), the father awakes in the body of his teenage son (and vice versa). Myers portrays the teenage daughter while Jennifer Garner plays her mother, with Ed Helms and Brady Noon rounding out the family in the father and son roles. Family Switch is only Emma Myers’ second Netflix project after Wednesday, and coincidentally maintains connections to Jenna Ortega despite the fact that the Wednesday Addams actress isn’t involved in the movie.

Jennifer Garner Has Played The Mom Of Jenna Ortega & Emma Myers’ Netflix Characters

The uniting factor between Emma Myers’ new Netflix movie and her Wednesday co-star Jenna Ortega is the role that Jennifer Garner plays in regard to both actresses. Similar to how Garner played the mother to Jenna Ortega’s character Katie in the cast of Netflix’s 2021 movie Yes Day, Garner has been cast as the mother to Emma Myers’ character CC in the streaming service’s 2023 movie Family Switch. To make the connection even more difficult to ignore, both movies are based on books by the author Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

Netflix’s November 2023 movie Family Switch is also directed by McG, who previously collaborated with Jenna Ortega on a Netflix horror movie. McG directed the Wednesday star in the 2020 film The Babysitter: Killer Queen, which was Ortega’s first Netflix movie, and is now helming Myers in her first big film role through Netflix. Though Wednesday season 2’s release date is looking to be far away, Netflix is maintaining loose casting links between the show’s stars on various other projects.

How Family Switch Shares Another Connection With Jennifer Garner’s Past

Jennifer Garner’s 2021 Netflix movie Yes Day isn’t her only previous project with a connection to Family Switch, as the upcoming film also teases links to her hit 2004 comedy 13 Going on 30. Garner herself confirmed (via EW) that Family Switch will contain some meta references to 13 Going on 30, a movie in which her 13-year-old character wakes up in the body of her 30-year-old self. The actress will now be doing the reverse in Family Switch as the adult character awakens in the body of her teen daughter, though she will stay in the present timeline instead of being sent back to the 1980s.
