Kardashian fans thought Kylie Jenner shaded Selena Gomez for surpassing her in Instagram followers, but Kylie says this is not the case.
Kylie Jenner wants everyone to know she has no hard feelings toward Selena Gomez after the singer surpassed The Kardashians star in Instagram followers and became the most-followed woman on the platform. Fans were sure Kylie would be angry when Selena took her crown. After Selena posted a TikTok of her eyebrows saying she accidentally messed up when laminating them, Kylie posted an Instagram story selfie where she wrote, “this was an accident,” and placed the writing over her eyebrows. She then posted a screenshot of a face time with Hailey Bieber, who is married to Selena’s ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
However, Kylie, who recently broke up with Travis Scott, says she never meant to tear Selena down. TikTok user @devotedly.yours made a video explaining why she thought Kylie’s Instagram story was shady toward Selena, but Kylie quickly shut the rumors down.
“This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever, and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts!” Kylie commented. “U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.” Selena came across Kylie”s response and replied, saying she agrees and she’s a fan of Kylie. However, a few fans didn’t believe Kylie’s claims and still think the Kylie Cosmetics founder was shading Selena.
Kylie Jenner Has An Interesting History With Selena Gomez
Selena and The Kardashians star have an interesting history. The two were on great terms when they were younger and even hung out together with Kendall Jenner at Coachella in 2014. However, Kendall and Kylie are great friends with Hailey, Justin’s wife, and no matter how many times Selena and Hailey claim to have nothing against each other, they constantly appear to be throwing shade at each other on Instagram. Selena is also best friends with Taylor Swift, who infamously had a feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West when they tried to expose her for something she didn’t do.
No matter how innocent something is in the celebrity world, social media will also find a way to turn it into drama. It’s very likely Kylie was not shading Selena at all. While the Kardashians love to be on top, Kylie might not care at all that Selena stole her spot as the most followed woman on Instagram. Fans should spend less time investing their energy into made-up feuds when Kylie and Selena claim they have no bad blood with each other.
However, fans are not crazy for thinking Kylie was disrespecting Selena. The family is known for throwing shade online. Kylie even showed signs of being threatened by Selena when she revealed her son’s name on Instagram when it first looked like Selena was going to surpass her following. Kylie’s comment could have just been momager Kris Jenner’s idea as a way to throw fans off their track. Whatever the case, as of now, Selena has more followers than Kylie, and The Kardashians star may or may not care.
