Actor Jason Momoa has taken to social media to share his reaction to the recent forest fires on the island of Maui and share ways for fans to help.

Momoa has shared various relief effort funds

In a recent Instagram post, Momoa shared videos and posts from ‘Āina Momona, an organization in Hawaii that has been raising funds for the Hawaii Community Foundation Maui County Strong Fund to help raise money for relief efforts. In the post, the Hawaiian actor said that he was “devastated” by the fires that recently took place on Maui.

“We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and ‘ohana on Maui who been impacted by the recent wildfires,” reads the caption of the post.

Earlier this week, widespread wildfires began taking place across the Island of Maui. In the ensuing fires, more than 1,300 people have been displaced, with 55 people tragically passing away in the fires. As of Thursday, 11,000 people still reportedly had no power, and one specific area on Maui, Lahaina, has been nearly fully burnt down in the fires.

Other celebrities have also begun raising awareness of the wildifres. This week, Oprah Winfrey arrived on Maui and began buying items from supermarkets in an effort to help people have supplies. Actress Connie Britton has also taken to Instagram to share her thoughts on the wildfires as well.
