Most students in Hogwarts Legacy will be required to wear their traditional school robes as they attend class and explore the castle, but luckily, the player has complete liberty over which cloaks they choose to wear. The classic Hogwarts uniform is certainly a safe and comforting pick, especially for longstanding fans of the main Harry Potter series, but there are ultimately dozens of robes and outfits that fashion-forward players can create in-game. Out of all the cloaks in Hogwarts Legacy, though, ten stand out as the best-looking (and certainly portray main character status).
In the open-world RPG, gear is completely randomized, meaning items aren’t guaranteed to have any specific perks or stats. Of course, higher-rarity attire tends to be more useful than its counterparts, but generally, there isn’t a surefire way to obtain the most powerful gear in the game. However, thanks to the convenience of changing gear appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, players can at least ascertain that they’ll obtain the coolest-looking gear.
10 Hogwarts Legacy’s Velvet House Cloak Is A Step-Up
Those who enjoy the simplicity of the traditional school robes, but still want to distinguish themselves from the crowd somewhat, should look out for the Velvet House Cloak in Hogwarts Legacy (pictured above by HarryNinetyFour on YouTube). Depending on the student’s House, the robe will either take on a bright red, striking yellow, cool blue, or lush green, all of which will be embellished with gold trimmings. It’s certainly a step-up from the plain Hogwarts uniform, but it still maintains its classic silhouette and style, so players won’t feel too out of place going to class – only slightly superior.
9 The Starry-Eyed Seer’s Cape Is A Dazzling Robe
On the other hand, the Starry-Eyed Seer’s Cape is a bold statement. This cape can be earned by locating all the Astronomy Tables across the game, which is no small task, considering the true size of Hogwarts Legacy‘s map. In the end though, it’s well worth the detour, as this cloak is one-of-a-kind. The back of the Starry-Eyed Seer’s Cape is a navy blue, decorated with intricate geometric designs and gold stars. But the underside of the cape, which is adorned with dozens of sparkling stars, truly captures the beauty of a night sky.
8 Spider Slayer Armor Is A Unique Outfit
The most unique piece of gear that Hogwarts Legacy has to offer is the Spider Slayer Armor. Despite being categorized as a cloak, this suit of iron armor is far from it. Donning this item will make the student look less like a witch or a wizard, and more like one of the school’s living knight statues.
Players can unlock the Spider Slayer Armor in Hogwarts Legacy by either killing ten spiders and collecting the associated Challenge reward, or they can also sometimes find it on the corpses of spiders. Students with arachnophobia, like Ron Weasley (a descendant of Professor Matilda Weasley), may not have such a fun time completing this task – but this gear, which is a borderline Dark Souls cosplay, is truly a sight to behold.
7 Herodiana’s Cape Is Quest-Exclusive
Another fashionable cloak in Hogwarts Legacy is Herodiana’s Cape. With its white-and-gold color scheme, minimalist design, and asymmetrical hem, this item looks nearly modern and is quite sleek compared to most of the other items offered in the game. Herodiana’s Cape is unlocked, fittingly, during the “Hall of Herodiana” quest, which will also grant the player a matching uniform, hat, and set of gloves.
6 Hogwarts Legacy’s Fashionable Dress Robes Are A Harry Potter Easter Egg
If the Fashionable Dress Robes look familiar, it’s because this isn’t their first appearance in the Harry Potter franchise. In the main series, this was Ron Weasley’s outdated outfit to the Yule Ball – but in the 1890s setting of Hogwarts Legacy, they seem a lot more befitting of current fashion trends. This Harry Potter Easter egg is a must-have, if not as a reference to Ron’s iconic outfit, then as outerwear for witches and wizards who like to dress a bit more formally (or in “contemporary style,” as the Fashionable Dress Robes are described in-game).
5 The Leather Winter Cloak Is A Warm Choice In Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy features a seasons cycle, which slowly changes as the player progresses through the main story line. Thus, around halfway through the game, they’ll find themselves experiencing a brutal winter in the Scottish Highlands – and although students can’t mechanically freeze to death, it would only make sense that they cozy up in a warm outfit, such as the Leather Winter Cloak. With simple fur trimmings and a neutral color palette, this coat is a staple that can work year-round, but wearing it during fall and winter months can contribute to immersion while still remaining fashionable.
4 Hogwarts Legacy’s Beast Rescuer Robe Is A Seasoned Outfit
After beating Hogwarts Legacy‘s main quest line, players may start to focus on expanding their Vivariums and taming the world’s unique array of beasts. Students like these might seek an outfit that’s a bit more functional, and they may find what they’re looking for with the Beast Rescuer Robe. Although similar in design to the Leather Winter Cloak, it sets itself apart with the simplicity of its silhouette, its subtle patchwork elements, and the silver adornments that give it a more utilitarian look.
3 The Dragonhide Protector’s Cloak
The Dragonhide Protector’s Cloak is one of the coolest pieces of gear in Hogwarts Legacy. As its name suggests, this cloak is composed of dragonhide, and it’s even embellished with some dragon scales and small bones on the back, making it quite clear that the student isn’t one to be messed with. In fact, since the player needs to kill dark wizards in Hogwarts Legacy in order to obtain the Dragonhide Protector’s Cloak, simply wearing this item proves that statement true. So even though it’s impossible to mount and ride a dragon in-game, this is the next best thing.
2 The Dark Arts Robe Is A Hogwarts Legacy DLC Outfit
For witches and wizards hoping to embark down a more sinister path, the Dark Arts Robe is the perfect accessory to their evil endeavors. With its black-and-gray color scheme, unique hemline, and animated skulls that shift across the cloak, it’s one of the game’s best-looking clothing items. The downside to the Dark Arts Robe is that it’s only available through the purchase of the Dark Arts Pack for Hogwarts Legacy, but it may be worth the price for players who tend to drift towards the darker side of magic.
1 Hogwarts Legacy’s Best Cloak Is The House Relic Uniform
However, the best cloak is the House Relic Uniform. This robe can only be found by unlocking the House Chest in Hogwarts Legacy, but the student will be handsomely rewarded for their trials and tribulations. While some elements vary between the Houses, each variation features an intricate emblem on the back, which lights up as the player casts spells or even simply walks through dark areas of the map. Its regal silhouette, House exclusivity, and interactive iridescent glow make the House Relic Uniform the best cloak in Hogwarts Legacy.
