Neil Gaiman clarifies a potential release date for Good Omens season 2. Based on the 1990 fantasy novel written by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, Good Omens follows angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) as they band together to stop the apocalypse. Good Omens season 1 was released on Prime Video in May 2019, with the intention of being a limited series. However, due to popularity and high demand, the show was renewed for season 2 in June 2021. There is currently no set release date for season 2.

Gaiman says that the show will be handed in to Prime Video “very soon,” but that even once that happens, there are still several steps for Good Omens to undergo before it can be released. Since Good Omens season 2 began production in October 2021, Gaiman has been fielding questions about expected release dates for everything from the final product to trailers. Though Gaiman has been transparent about sharing production updates, including posting teaser images to his Tumblr, he revealed in January that viewers shouldn’t expect a trailer for Good Omens season 2 until much closer to the summer release window. Though handing in the final draft of Good Omens season 2 to Prime Video shortly, there is still much work to be done.

Though Good Omens season 2 is still months away, it’s far from the only Gaiman project currently in production. New episodes of The Sandman are set to begin filming this summer. A Prime Video television adaptation of Gaiman’s novel Anansi Boys is also in the works, with Gaiman stating in June 2022 that it would take over a year for the series’ post-production work to be completed. Gaiman also confirmed on Twitter that Anansi Boys will be premiering after Good Omens season 2. Gaiman’s Dead Boy Detectives series is also currently filming.

Good Omens season 2 is highly-anticipated following the massive success that season 1 brought, but with so few details released about the plot, it’s unclear exactly what these newest episodes will even be about. Regardless, Gaiman has had an immensely successful past few years for his television adaptations, and that bodes well for Good Omens season 2.
