The new Genshin Impact 4.0 Archon Quests will fix a major problem the action RPG has been facing in recent updates. The new set of missions was announced along with the upcoming version itself, which is due to arrive in mid-August. The update will introduce players to the region of Fontaine, the fifth major nation of Teyvat, also known as the Nation of Justice. The region is led by the Hydro Archon, Focalors, also making it the Nation of Hydro. Version 4.0 and the addition of Fontaine will kick off the game’s third year of content following its original release back in 2020.

If players have already caught up with the main story missions and have unlocked Fontaine in Genshin Impact, they should be redirected to the new questline. The new Archon Quests in Genshin Impact 4.0 will continue the story of the Traveler in search of their lost sibling, though now in an entirely new region led by the mysterious Hydro Archon. Though little is known about how these missions will play out, they will fix a major problem the RPG has been having with its past updates.

Genshin Impact Will Have Archon Quests From Version 4.0 To 4.2

As was announced by HoYoverse during the special 4.0 livestream on the official Genshin Impact channel on Twitch, the game will feature new Archon Quests from Version 4.0 all the way through Version 4.2. Ultimately, this means that the game will receive new main story quests for three sequential updates, allowing players to engage with the campaign for a long time without having to rely uniquely on events or side quests. This will start with Genshin Impact 4.0’s Archon Quests, which will arrive along with the patch itself in August.

Latest Genshin Impact Updates Lacked Story Content

The announcement that Genshin Impact’s Archon Quests will be added for three straight updates is good news for players, as the past few updates have been lacking more engaging content. In fact, the latest patches relied almost exclusively on limited-time events, with no attention to the main campaign. The last piece of important content players received was the Caribert Archon Quest in Genshin Impact 3.5, which involved the enigmatic Dainsleif. The version was added back in March, meaning players have gone without any new Archon Quests for nearly five months.

Of course, the patches added new side quests along with new areas in Sumeru, like the Realm of Farakhkert, for instance. The most recent update, Version 3.8, relied mostly on its flagship event, Secret Summer Paradise, as there were no new main story quests added. Nevertheless, the Genshin Impact 4.0 Archon Quests will end the month-long wait for new campaign missions, and that will continue to be the case up until Version 4.2. It is unclear if Version 4.3 will not have Archon Quests at all or if it is simply too soon to make such long a commitment. Genshin Impact 4.0 and Fontaine will arrive on August 16.
