The Fantastic Four are on their way to the MCU as Marvel’s First Family will finally get its own film under Marvel Studios. While Phase 4’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features a Reed Richards variant, the MCU is currently casting its four main characters for the reboot that will arrive in Phase 6.

While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm or deny the recent MCU rumors about the Fantastic Four cast, Driver is supposedly up for the role of Reed, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic. Olsen, however, had no idea that was the case when she was asked during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast about her thoughts on Driver possibly replacing Krasinski as Mister Fantastic. After being explained that it is because of the multiverse, the MCU veteran said the following about Driver potentially taking on the iconic role:

What? Oh, because different multiverses? Okay, I understand now!

Why John Krasinski Isn’t Returning As Reed Richards In Fantastic Four

Even though Krasinski made a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Reed, he was never going to be the main version of the iconic Fantastic Four hero. Krasinski even getting tapped to play Mister Fantastic was the result of Kevin Feige having followed the massive fan-casting of him as Reed. When the idea was brought to Sam Raimi, it was meant to be a fun moment for those fans.

However, for the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie, the plan was seemingly always to have a new actor as Reed, alongside the three other heroes. Since Raimi was never going to direct the reboot, it would be up to Matt Shakman, as well as Feige, to cast their Reed, as well as Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, to properly fit the vision of their solo film. Time will tell if Driver is actually going to be the one who gets cast as Reed or if the reports were nothing more than rumors.

Hopefully, it won’t be long until Marvel Studios has found all of its stars for Fantastic Four. Perhaps the studio will have something ready to announce at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. With the team supposedly having a major role in the MCU’s future, it will be exciting to see who is tapped for those iconic Fantastic Four roles.
