Set in the League of Legends universe, the animated Netflix show follows Violet and Jinx, sisters who find themselves at odds due to the friction between the idealistic metropolis Piltover and its crime-ridden undercity called Zaun. The show debuted on Netflix in November 2021 and became the streamer’s highest-rated show at the time within a week of its premiere. It gained critical and commercial success, including winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. Though Netflix renewed the show for season 2, the developments have been taking a while, with the wait now extending to two years.

What Else Do We Know About Arcane Season 2

Jinx in Arcane holding a knife

The team behind this action-adventure show has shown a willingness to be meticulous in building the world of Arcane. In particular, season 1 reportedly took six years to make. While season 2 will develop in a shorter turnaround, three years is still a relatively long gap between seasons. Despite no confirmation about season 2’s direction, the season 1 cliffhanger heavily suggests that the shaky peace between Violet and Jinx and their respective cities is about to devolve into complete chaos.

Regarding Arcane’s voice cast, it is expected that Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse) returns to voice Vi, while Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Katie Leung (The Peripheral) are also expected to voice Jinx and Caitlyn, respectively. Executive producer Christian Linke has also teased an amazing soundtrack for season 2.

While the confirmed release window for Arcane season 2 is good news for the show’s progression, its 2024 return is still far away since it requires another whole year’s wait. However, if the showrunners can recapture season 1’s brilliance and thrill, then it’ll definitely be worth the wait.
