New The Batman – Part II fan art sees Andrew Garfield, best known for playing Spider-Man, transformed into the villainous Two-Face for the upcoming DC movie sequel. 2022 marked the big return for the Dark Knight on the big screen, as Robert Pattinson became the latest star to suit up as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which served as a reboot for the DC icon. Skipping the origin story, this take on the Caped Crusader explored Bruce’s second year as Gotham City’s infamous vigilante.
As The Batman received positive reception from critics and performed incredibly well at the worldwide box office, The Batman 2 is on its way, continuing Warner Bros.’s and DC Studios’ Elseworlds-base franchise while James Gunn is developing the new DC Universe. Needless to say, The Batman set the bar pretty high for the sequel, as the world is constantly waiting to get the latest details on Reeves’ next installment.
Imagining who Bruce will fight next, jph_photoshop shared new fan-art where he pitched Garfield as Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, in The Batman – Part II. This would be the first time Garfield plays a comic book villain, as he previously played Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, and reprised the role in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
What We Know About The Batman – Part II So Far
For the time being, The Batman – Part II will release on October 3, 2025, although it remains to be seen if Warner Bros. Discovery will end up having to push the movie back a bit. Pattinson is confirmed to return as the beloved DC hero, with Reeves attached to direct, and co-write the script for The Batman 2 with Mattson Tomlin, who penned the first installment. In terms of The Batman – Part II plot details, storylines have been kept under wraps ever since the initial announcement, but some past interviews may give some clues as to what they are planning.
Presumably, The Batman – Part II will at least take place a year or so after the events of The Penguin, which will premiere on Max in 2024. Throughout The Batman press tour, villains such as Court of Owls, Hush, and Mr. Freeze were brought up as potential villains for future sequels, although whether or not any of them get used in The Batman – Part II remains to be seen, especially as the original movie teased a Joker and Riddler villain team-up. As far as characters from Batman’s extended family, Pattinson and Reeves have stated that they would love to see Robin introduced in The Batman universe, which may open the door for the larger Bat-Family in this continuity,
Once the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes are over, pre-production will be able to resume on The Batman 2, as they were initially eying principal photography in November. But given that Reeves is looking to expand The Batman universe, both on the big and small screens, it definitely raises the anticipation for the sequel and where they can go after how the last film ended. For now, the world will have to wait patiently to see what is in store in The Batman – Part II.
