90 Day Fiancé star Kim Menzies revealed new information about her military past to fans on Instagram. The 50-year-old Kim made a splash on reality TV with 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 as Usman “Sojaboy” Umar’s partner. Kim and Usman, 32, had connected online after he became a fan of his music. They started off as friends, and Usman, who had earlier been married to American ex-wife Lisa Hamme, saw Kim as his “potential girlfriend.” Kim is now winning hearts as a Pillow Talk cast member with fan-favorite son Jamal Menzies.
Not all franchise alum have interesting pasts like 90 Day Fiancé’s Kim Menzies. The San Diego woman has mentioned her time in the U.S. Army quite a few times on the show and took to Instagram to share more details about her job. Kim had a Q&A session with her Instagram followers where she was asked, “What trade were you in the military?” Kim used a fun “Let’s go Army” sticker in her reply. She told the curious follower that she was in the Army. “And I was a 71L- Administrative Assistant,” Kim added.
Why Did 90 Day Fiancé Star Kim Quit Her Army Job
When Kim started getting questions about her military service, she revealed that she was in the Army from 1989 to 1996. 90 Day Fiancé star Kim was in Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia from August 1990 until July 1991. Operation Desert Storm was the first major foreign crisis for the United States after the end of the Cold War. Kim was just 19 years old when she started her career in the army. However, Kim chose to get out of the military when Jamal was a baby. They wanted Kim to do an unaccompanied tour overseas, “and I just couldn’t do that,” Kim revealed.
Kim got out of the military with an honorable discharge. Interestingly, Kim and Usman also had the military in common between them. 90 Day Fiancé star Usman’s stage name, Sojaboy, refers to “soldier boy.” The reason Usman has the name Sojaboy is because his two brothers were in the army. As per Usman, they call a soldier “Soja” in his language. Unfortunately, Kim has also been affected by a lifelong ailment because of her demanding job. Kim used to be an Airborne when she was in the army, and she jumped out of planes quite a few times. It is the reason why Kim walks with a limp.
Kim was born with a dislocated hip. But because of jumping out of planes, she ended up dislocating her hip again. Moreover, Kim has also developed arthritis in her hips. With age, her condition is deteriorating and Kim’s knees are bending more inwards, with her even considering surgery in the future. However, 90 Day Fiancé personality Kim doesn’t let her pain come in the way of her happy-go-lucky personality on TV. Kim’s relationship with Usman might have ended in a split, but the special bond she’s developed with her fans is something that is rare and appealing.
