Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Fast X!With over 20 years of franchise history, there are plenty of Fast X Easter eggs and references to past movies and characters. The latest entry in the Fast & Furious franchise is very much connected to the mythology that the nearly dozen movies that came before it helped establish. The importance of past films for Fast X‘s story became crystal clear upon the reveal that it was using Fast Five flashbacks to explain Dante’s motivation for hunting down Dominic Toretto and his team.

This is just the beginning of how the Fast Saga connects decades of stories together with the tenth installment of the main series. By the time Fast X‘s post-credits scene completes, the movie manages to include Easter eggs and references to every prior entry in some fashion. These hidden details include everything from character cameos to references to past events and more. Here is a complete breakdown of Fast X‘s Easter eggs.

26 Hernan Reyes Returns

Hernan Reyes in Fast Five

Fast X begins with Hernan Reyes returning for new footage that takes place during Fast Five. Joaquim de Almeida returns to reprise his role as Fast Five‘s villain to share scenes with his son Dante, played by Jason Momoa. He is seen throughout the film at various times using old footage from his only other appearance, but Hernan Reyes is one of a few cameos from familiar characters.

25 Brian’s Empty Seat Honors Paul Walker

Fast X Family Barbecue

Fast X continues a touching tribute for Paul Walker at the Toretto family barbecue by leaving a seat open for Brian. The movie does feature Paul Walker with old Fast Five footage for the flashbacks, but Brian O’Connor is otherwise not seen and barely mentioned. The open seat at the family barbecue is a great example of how the franchise is not attempting to replace him. It also builds on F9‘s ending, which also had an empty seat at the table as Brian’s car pulled up.

24 Los Bandoleros

Fast X Han

Fast X‘s Easter eggs include a reference to the franchise’s second short film, Los Bandoleros. It is a prequel to the fourth film and shows Dom working with Han and Rico Santos to break Tego Leo out of prison. The short film is referenced when Dom concludes a conversation with Han by saying “Los Bandoleros for life.”

23 See You Again

A digital recreation of Paul Walker driving a car in Furious 7.

A familiar tune also can be heard in the movie, as the instrumental version of “See You Again” plays after Dom looks at pictures of Brian, his father, and other important people in his life. The song by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was created for Furious 7 as the tribute song for Paul Walker. It has only ever played before in the franchise as part of Brian’s sendoff, making the inclusion in Fast X more notable.

22 Letty’s “Death”

Dom also makes a reference to Letty’s “death” that occurred in the fourth Fast & Furious. He talks to Letty about his fears in the movie and mentions that he is scared of losing a son, as well as losing his wife again. This Fast X line references how it was thought that Letty died after her and Dom’s secret wedding. Even though she is back now and has her full memories again, losing his family is still Dom’s biggest fear.

21 Little Nobody Returns

Audiences are also treated to more of Little Nobody in Fast X, as Scott Eastwood returns for a small role. He is only featured during the first act of the film and comes to take Cipher to the Agency’s black site prison before joining Dom on the mission to Rome. It marks the first time that Little Nobody has appeared in the franchise since his debut in The Fate of the Furious.

20 What Happened To Mr. Nobody After F9

Composite image of Dom and Mr. Nobody in Fast and Furious

Mr. Nobody’s fate in the Fast & Furious franchise has been a mystery since the beginning of F9, which revealed that Jakob attacked his plane. Since he was not kidnapped by Jakob and his body was not in the wreckage, questions have remained about what happened to him. Fast X makes various references to the character throughout the film, making it appear that he is no longer with the Agency and is either missing or in hiding. All signs point to Mr. Nobody being alive now.

Lykan HyperSport jumping in Abu Dhabi in Furious 7

Fast X references every previous Fast & Furious movie thanks to Aimes and the Agency. The organization’s new leader is shown watching footage from Dom’s team’s past adventures, allowing the film to recap the Fast & Furious movies‘ 20-year history in a few minutes. This allows Fast X to briefly show everything from The Fast and the Furious‘ races, Furious 7‘s Abu Dhabi jump, and more.

18 God’s Eye

God’s Eye continues to play a major role in the Fast & Furious franchise, as the technology Ramsey invented changes hands throughout the film. The Agency has the program at the beginning, but Tess steals a piece of it to find Dom. It ultimately ends up in Dante’s possession, threatening the safety of everyone. God’s Eye debuted in Furious 7 but has now played some role in every film since then.

17 “It Doesn’t Matter If You Win By An Inch Or A Mile”

Fast X Dominic Toretto Brian

One of the best Fast X Easter eggs comes through Little Brian repeating one of Dom’s most iconic phrases. After beating Mia in a Hot Wheels video game, he says, “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile.” This leads to Mia jokingly wondering where she has heard that before. It should sound familiar to her and audiences as Dom said it in the original The Fast and the Furious after beating Brian in their first race.

16 Tess Prefers Belgium Ale Just Like Her Dad

Brie Larson as Tess in Fast X.

Tess’ debut as Mr. Nobody’s daughter proves that she is like her father in more ways than being part of the secret intelligence world. She offers Dom a glass of Belgium ale once they meet, which is a direct Fast X reference to Mr. Nobody’s first appearance in Furious 7. He repeatedly talks about his love of Belgium ale and tries to convince Dom to ditch his Coronas for a sip. Tess is proof this love of Belgium beer has been passed down through the family.

15 Jakob’s Car Is From F9’s Flashbacks

Jakob-and-Little-B-Fast-X

Jakob’s main car is another Fast X Easter egg. He initially drives Little Brian across the country in a 1992 blue Ford Mustang. If it seems familiar to viewers, that is probably because it is the same car that Jakob drove in F9‘s flashback scenes. This means it is the car that Jakob was driving when he lost to Dom, forcing him to run away from home.

14 The Story Behind Letty’s Scar

Letty in Fast and the Furious 6

The origin of Letty’s scars are once again detailed in Fast X as Tess tells her about the one on her wrist to gain her trust. Tess recounts the familiar story that Letty’s wrist scar came from the night she and Dom first met and he tried to impress her. This is the same story that Dom tells Letty in Fast & Furious 6 to try and prove that he knows everything about her past.

13 Fast Five’s Diogo Returns

Fast X Diogo Return

Fast X brings back another familiar character by having Diogo return during the Brazil scenes. Luis Da Silva Jr. originally joined the franchise in Fast Five, which marks his only other appearance before. While Diogo proves to be an ally to Dom against Dante, it was all part of the latter’s plan. This leads to Diogo being one of Fast X‘s deaths.

12 Isabel Is Elena’s Secret Sister

Elsa Pataky as Elena Neves in Fast & Furious

Fast X delivers another family twist by revealing that Daniela Melchior’s Isabel is actually Elena Neves’ sister. The franchise had not previously teased that Elena had a younger sister, as Fast Five only explained that Elena’s husband’s death was connected to Hernan Reyes. Isabel and Elena being sisters allows Dom’s family to now include his son’s aunt.

11 Dom Reflects On His & Brian’s Unlikely Friendship

Dom and Brian look on in The Fast and the Furious

There is also a brief moment where Fast X references the unlikely friendship between Dom and Brian. Isabel talks about how she and Elena were very different and did not always have a close relationship because of their differences. However, Dom makes a parallel between them and him and Brian by reminiscing about how a cop and a street racer could become like brothers.

Time travel does not happen in Fast X despite the popular theories, but the movie does reference it in a way. When Tej, Roman, Ramsey, and Han go to visit an old friend of Ramsey’s played by Pete Davidson, Tej says “Did we just time travel?” in response to how old the place looks. It is possible this is the franchise’s way of joking about those theories or a subtle piece of setup for Fast & Furious 11 to include time travel.

9 Little Brian Is Scared Of Planes After Fate of the Furious

After Little Brian and Jakob make it on a plane, Dom’s son is noticeably uncomfortable and admits that he is scared of planes, but not because of the height. While Fast X does not explain why this is the case, it is likely a reference to The Fate of the Furious. Little Brian spent time in Cipher’s plane as a baby and could be scared of them because he associates them with his mother’s death or Deckard saving him.

8 Paul Walker’s Daughter Meadow Cameos In Fast X

Meadow Walker and Vin Diesel

A quick Fast X cameo comes in the form of Paul Walker’s daughter appearing in the movie. Meadow Rain Walker appears in Fast X as the flight attendant who gives Jakob alcohol and the key to get into the cargo compartment of the plane. The cameo from Paul Walker’s daughter allows the actor’s real-life family to still be part of the popular franchise.

7 F9’s Post-Credits Scene Becomes Part Of Fast X

Deckard Shaw answering the door to Han in Fast X

Fast X pays off F9‘s post-credits scene by having Han and Deckard reunite, but it also goes a step further. Instead of using the F9 tease to explain that Deckard was with Han from the start of the movie or that they already patched things up, Fast X makes the scene take place during the new movie. This allows the confrontation to play out in full and even show what happens to the guy Deckard stuffed in a boxing bag.
